Hi, I’m Skye and I’m the digital and associate editor for Miss FQ.

At 6:30am my alarm goes off but I always hit snooze. I’m still battling when I (begrudgingly) surface at 6:45am. I have long aspired to be a morning person who practices mindfulness and meditation but that day is yet to come.

I have a terrible habit of checking my emails when I first wake up where I browse through the stories from the UK magazines which have come in from our correspondent overnight.

After showering, completing my makeup and putting on my outfit for the day, I make my go-to green smoothie for my partner and myself before we leave for work at 7:30am.

I’m usually in the office around 8:15am – traffic dependent, obvs (#AucklandLife) – where I begin scoping out the stories for MissFQ.co.nz for the day. After writing my to-do list, I brief in my intern on her daily tasks, and allocate stories to our part-time writer and myself, before heading into my first meeting at 9am with our sales team where we’re discussing the ins and outs of the upcoming Miss FQ Colgate Optic White Influencer Awards. Watch this space.

I duck back to my desk at 9:30am to write and publish a celebrity news story, respond to PR pitches via email, and unbox some exciting new beauty products which I’ll showcase on our @missfqnz Instagram Stories.

By 11am I’ve received the final video for a beauty story I’ve been working on with our lead video producer which I publish to the site and schedule on Facebook for the evening. Now I’m off to my next meeting to discuss our plans for Miss FQ and Fashion Quarterly at NZ Fashion Week which will be here before I know it – the impending late nights scare me and excite me at the same time!

I’m always starving by 12pm and can’t resist the deliciousness of &Sushi for lunch as it’s in the same complex as our offices. I’m such a regular customer that they know my name and my order – should I be worried or flattered? Jury’s still out.

While I eat at my desk, I respond to campaign briefs and send a story I’ve been working on to the client for approval.

It’s 1pm and I’m tasked with responding to more emails (So. Many. Emails.) and sending off questions to a few different cool girls who are doing awesome things in their respective industries for our ‘Girl You Need to Know’ interview series.

At 3pm I head to a print meeting to go over our plans for the next issue of Miss FQ magazine. The team is sharing their ideas for the fashion and features, and I put my beauty editor hat on to present my thoughts on potential stories for the beauty section.

From 4 until 7pm I’m at my desk to churn out a few more online stories, and sub and publish the articles which have been written by contributors and other staffers.

At least one night per week I have an event to attend and tonight I’m going to a beauty launch where I do lots of Stories for the ‘Gram and catch up with influencers and fellow media before heading home at 9pm to watch some Netflix on the couch before bed.
